Mario & Yoshi
Everybody knows Mario, whether they've owned a Nintendo console at some point in their life or not. If you have no idea who Mario is, something is very wrong. We used to have the Super Mario All Stars game for the SNES, which had about three or four of the Mario games. Each one of them gave me fits cause I'd get almost to the end of the level, and then a Goomba or a Koopa shell would ricochet and take me out, or I'd fall off the edge of the cliff. Years ago I got a Gameboy Color as a gift with Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. Would you believe I had no problem clearing those levels on that dinky screen?
I got this idea from watching Mama play Super Mario Sunshine. Anyone that's played this game knows that the more Shine Sprites you get, the brighter it gets outside, and eventually you can go up to the dude under the umbrella that gives you sunglasses. Well she turned the camera around to face him, and my first thought was, 'That looks like Dale Earnhardt!' So I found a good pose of Mario sitting on Yoshi in the manual and sketched it up, changing the clothes to look like Earhardt's jumpsuit, switched the hat, added the bottle of Coca Cola. Then I thought it still looked empty, so I did a Google search for good Earnhardt pics of him and the #3 car and went decal crazy on Yoshi. I know they're not completely accurate but I tried to get the most recognized ones on there. All I've gotten from this one is nothing but good responses, a good few that went "That's so cute!" I really like this one cause no matter how sour of a mood I'm in, it still makes me grin.
