Sword-wielding Arlene
This one, plus the next 5 are part of a series of characters I had in my head. Expect to see more following these. This is closer to the original 'Arlene' I had drawn. This character Arlene isn't exactly human, and she's not exactly an elf, either. She's a hybrid, a sort of mix of human, elven, and guardian qualities. Now like the "EM" series, I haven't figured out all of the details, but what I can say about a Guardian is that they're only known as a myth and weren't predicted to even exist.
The pose was inspired by a pic I had seen in one of my volumes of Othello. Yes, that is the sword of Isildur, for all you Ringers out there. If for some reason Arlene looks a little odd to you, try to imagine a camera-man laying on the floor pointing the camera up, so it looks like Arlene's about to stab the Sword of Isildur into someone or something. Again, not a very 'Guardian' type pic, but this one pulls away from her Elvish warddrobe and drops into her human ones. Still, Arlene's a scary hybrid with a sword, ain't she?
