About the Site

For years I have been told in some form, "have you thought about putting your stuff up online?" Back then, it hadn't occured to me. Now, I'm tickled to death to finally be able to make my own spot in the Web.

To be honest, I actually started coming up with a design for my website last summer, but I didn't really get a good image of what I wanted in my head until the end of the year. I spent hours looking at hundreds of different sites seeing what they did and how they made their unique. That's what I wanted to do, to design a website that's different. Sure, it'll have some content that other sites put up on theirs, but I wanted the design to be eye-catching. The first design I came up with was for a website that I was going to call 'CyberSlain'. I know, that sounds stupid, but I was in a rut and couldn't come up with anything better. Mama was the one that said, "Why not 'Clear Willow'?" and that's how this site was born.

The first design I did was an Elizabethtown one, and it looked really neat for my first attempt, but I got stuck trying to figure out HTML and then the ugliness happened... Something went wrong and our computer had to be rebooted, which meant I lost EVERYTHING. This was before I had the sense to back up my stuff on CD-RWs since we don't have a 3 1/2" floppy drive. Luckily the pieces that made up the layout are saved under my photobucket account, and maybe I'll do something with them one day, at least code it and see how it turns out.

When it came to adding content to this site, I had a massive brainfart. I got the design done, and had no idea what I wanted to put up for the world to see. So I grabbed all of my folders and binders and started digging through them. An hour later I had a huge stack of stucc I hadn't seen in months. I also started thinking about free stuff that people could nick like LiveJournal avatars and forum signatures. Those are easy and fun to make, so some of them will pop up. And I like looking around at DeviantArt, and I almost registered to post some stuff up there, but then I dismissed the idea, telling myself that that's one more username and password I'd probably lose. Mama also asked me if I'd host other people's things if they sent them to me, and I said sure, it sounded like a great idea-especially if they don't want to register an account on DeviantArt or somewhere else. As for fanfiction, I made a list of all of my top favorite stories that I knew I had to pass the links around to other people so they could read them. I mean you get a funny e-mail, you have to send it to your friends, right? Daddy asking me for help with making a header image for his webhosting site made me think about tutorials, but mine will mostly be graphics related.

Hm, well that's all I can really think of to say about this site. All in all I really hope you people out there in the world find something you like here. Welcome to a site that's as unique and unpredictable as it's owner!
